Lip Service or Implementation? The Home Office Gender Guidance and Women's Asylum Claims in the UK
31-03-2006 · Research Reports
In March 2004, after extensive lobbying by NGOs and campaginers including the Refugee Women's Resource Project (RWRP) at Asylum Aid, the Home Office adopted Gender Guidance on dealing with gender issues in asylum claims. The research considers the extent to which this Guidance has been implemented. It is based on interviews with professionals working in the field of asylum determination and an analysis of cases from Asylum Aid's own caseload. The research demonstrates that the Home Office is failing to adhere to its own Gender Guidance.
