Useful resources for women seeking asylum

Asylum Aid has the following resources for asylum seekers and people who work with them

Resources about women's asylum claims

Leaflet: Are you a woman seeking asylum in the UK? for newly arrived women asylum seekers which explains the Home Office Gender Guidance

Audio CD: Home Office gender guidance for newly-arrived women asylum seekers, and for those who work with them.  The CD explains more about the Home Office's obligations under the Gender Guidance

Play: Random Acts tells the story of a woman seeking asylum in the UK, and of the barriers that confront women in this situation
Since the production of the CD and play in 2007, effective
advocacy by Asylum Aid and others has forced changes in
some areas of Government policy.  Childcare is now
available during asylum interviews in all regional offices
except London, and the'gender-sensitive question' has
been added to those asked during the asylum screening
	interview
