Why we need your help
Asylum Aid is a national charity working to secure protection for people seeking refuge in the UK from persecution and human rights abuses abroad. We do not receive government funding and it is only with the help of people like you that we can help people find safety. Find out how to give now.
Getting asylum can be a matter of life or death.
That is why Asylum Aid needs your support to continue to:
- provide free, accessible, high-quality legal services to asylum-seekers - responsive to their needs and sensitive to their experience - with a particular focus on the most vulnerable and excluded
- lobby and campaign for an asylum system based on inviolable human rights principles, ensuring that what we say is firmly rooted in the work we do
- work with refugee and other community-based organisations, helping to enhance their legal services and learning from their experiences
Your support will help someone like Susan.
Susan's husband supported the opposition leader in Uganda. When the president was re-elected opposition leaders were violently persecuted. Susan was no exception.
Surviving rape and torture, she managed to flee the country.
Susan was helped by Asylum Aid to gather the necessary evidence to make a successful claim for asylum.
She is now studying nursing, and is hopeful for a future free from fear.
