Background to the survey
The Asylum Rights Watch survey can be used by any individual who comes into contact with the UK's asylum system, either as an asylum-seeker or through personal or professional contact with asylum-seekers. Visitors can send information about individual experiences or general trends that are occurring.
So far we have received submissions from across the UK, from asylum-seekers/refugees, members of faith communities, social workers, healthcare professionals, local authority workers, friends of asylum-seekers, and legal representatives, amongst others.
We read every submission that we receive and use the information gathered in the course of our policy and campaigns work. For example, in October 2007 we shared the results of the survey with the Independent Asylum Commission, so that they could inform the Commission's inquiry into the UK's asylum process. We also produce regular reports about the survey responses.
We are keen to hear from as many people as possible - not only people who work in organisations like Asylum Aid! Please download a flyer and help us to promote the survey.
